I’m...AMEN to everything you said about conferences! I’m so excited about a conference I will be attending in CA in March. It will be the first big conference I’ve attended for eleven years where I wouldn’t have to speak and critique—just sit and soak it up! The first time I attended a big conference in 1997, I studied a book ahead of time called NETWORKING AT WRITER’S CONFERENCES: FROM CONTACTS TO CONTRACTS by Steven D. Spratt and Lee G. Spratt. It divides up the experience into before, during and after the conference, showing you how to get the most bang for your buck. I dusted off the book and plan to study it again in the coming month.
