I have been buying my books direct from overseas bookstores in paperback. I think that ebooks still have a long way to go, as I found out that reading on a screen for long periods of time is headache inducing. Give me a real book any day.Paulnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6727653.post-30488783055179087682011-06-30T18:17:42.423+12:002011-06-30T18:17:42.423+12:00Ron, I think self-publishing is on the rise, but a...Ron, I think self-publishing is on the rise, but also from conversations with publishers and publicists, word of mouth is as important as ever, if not more so. The current confusion in the publishing industry leaves me cold. Looks like I will be self publishing and marketing for sometime the way things are going.Ron Leddirhttp://ronleddir.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6727653.post-18012621661149810812011-05-12T16:39:29.235+12:002011-05-12T16:39:29.235+12:00Conor, it's not just ebooks that have limitati...Conor, it's not just ebooks that have limitations re territories, but I think the fact that we all assume ebooks are "global" makes it more obvious when we suddenly realise a book isn't available because it hasn't been published yet in that territory!Sherrylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04405534589743973581noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6727653.post-47418975852072592302011-05-12T04:04:25.976+12:002011-05-12T04:04:25.976+12:00Sherryl, new to the site, but needless to say an i...Sherryl, new to the site, but needless to say an interesting post. I had no idea that copyright like this existed, limiting e-books in places like Australia. It kind of reminds me of the needless region coding that exists on DVDs only to generate more revenues. Hope Australia catches up!Conorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01979311170025372535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6727653.post-21296551121301721872011-05-08T20:48:08.219+12:002011-05-08T20:48:08.219+12:00It's going to be interesting, Pat. It's to do with how much you can read on a screen, and the ability to quickly highlight and make notes. We'll see whether ebooks start to look too much like school for teens.Sherrylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04405534589743973581noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6727653.post-89490867027935632222011-05-06T19:18:29.430+12:002011-05-06T19:18:29.430+12:00Good post, Sherryl. More authors will self-publish and publishers will have to figure out a way to make money. Sure they're trying right now!Pat Flynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13941014870896092207noreply@blogger.com
